Question: What is the application deadline?
It is February 6, 2016, 12:00 noon Eastern Standard Time for Academic and Art Merit Awards
Question: What is the CSS Profile?
Applicants must complete the College Scholarship Service (CSS) PROFILE which is used by AFSA and other colleges and universities to assess the family's ability to pay for college. CSS charges a minimum of $25.00 to process the PROFILE and to send it to one college/scholarship program and $16.00 for each additional report sent. Parents can estimate their income and assets if they have not completed their federal and state taxes. Be sure to allow one week for delivery to AFSA.
Tip: For families who complete the CSS PROFILE while posted overseas, please list "Your Country of Residence" as the United States and not the country you are living in. In this way, you will be treated as a U.S. taxpayer and not as a citizen of the host country, which has significant negative ramifications in how the PROFILE computes the "Parent Contribution" amount in paying for college.
Question: How do I add trusted names to the safe senders or safe recipients lists?
Question: Why is my Transcripts task not showing "Complete" when I know they have been submitted by my school and/or by myself?
The above information will not begin to be updated in the system until the mid-January. There is always a day or two lag time between when the information is submitted and when the system is updated.
Question: Where do I apply for the AFSA Merit awards?
You can apply for AFSA Financial Aid at http://afsa-scholarship.fluidreview.com. The application deadline is February 6, 2016. Applicants must be tax dependent children of AFSA members.
